Digital Sound Processing for Music and Multimedia by Ross Kirk,
Digital Sound Processing for Music and Multimedia by Ross Kirk,
Provides an introduction to the nature, synthesis and transformation of sound which forms the basis of digital sound processing for music and multimedia. Background information in computer techniques is included so that you can write computer algorithms to realise new processes central to your own musical and sound processing ideas. Finally, material is inlcuded to explain the way in which people contribute to the development of new kinds of performance and composition systems. Key features of the book include: 7 Contents structured into free-standing parts for easy navigation 7 Flow lines' to suggest alternative paths through the book, depending on the primary interest of the reader. 7 Practical examples are contained on a supporting website. Digital Sound Processing can be used by anyone, whether from an audio engineering, musical or music technology perspective. Digital sound processing in its various spheres - music technology, studio systems and multimedia - are witnessing the dawning of a new age. The opportunities for involvement in the expansion and development of sound transformation, musical performance and composition are unprecedented. The supporting website (www.york.ac.uk/inst/mustech/dspmm.htm) contains working examples of computer techniques, music synthesis and sound processing.

Princeton Sound Lab - The Princeton Sound Lab is a research laboratory in the Department of Computer Science at Princeton University, in collaboration with the Department of Music. The Sound Lab conducts research in a variety of areas in computer music, including physical modeling, audio analysis, audio synthesis, programming languages for audio and multimedia, interactive controller design, psychoacoustics, and real-time systems for composition and performance.

Music technology - Music technology is technology involved with the musical arts, in particular the use of electronic devices and computer software to facilitate playback, recording, composition, storage and performance. This is the top level index page under the Music heading.

Computer-generated music - Computer-generated music is music composed by, or with the extensive aid of, a computer. Although any music which uses computers in its composition or realisation is computer-generated to some extent, the use of computers is now so widespread (in the editing of pop songs, for instance) that the phrase computer-generated music is generally used to mean a kind of music which could not have been created without the use of computers.

Computer music - Computer music is music generated with, or composed with the aid of computers. It also refers to a field of study that examines both the theory and application of new and existing technologies in the areas of music, sound design and diffusion, acoustics, sound synthesis, digital signal processing, and psychoacoustics.

Computer Music Program - Computer Music Program Composing Music With Computers Focuses on the role of the computer as a generative tool for music composition. Miranda introduces a number of computer music composition techniques ranging from probabilities, formal grammars computer music program and fractals, to genetic algorithms, cellular automata computer music program and neural computation. Anyone wishing to use the computer as a companion to create music will find this book a valuable resource. As a comprehensive guide with full explanations of technical terms, it ...

Music Composition Software - Music Composition Software Composing Interactive Music: Techniques and Ideas Using Max with CDROM by Todd Winkler, Interactive music refers to a composition or improvisation in which software interprets live performances to produce music generated or modified by computers. In Composing Interactive Music, Todd Winkler presents both the technical music composition software and aesthetic possibilities of this increasingly popular area of computer music. His own numerous compositions have been the laboratory for the research music composition software and development that resulted in ...
